The Prism Weight Loss Program |
 |
Introduction & Overview |
The weight loss industry boom has actuated countless self-proclaimed “experts” and medical practitioners into churning out self-help programs. Among them, there are a number of varied approaches: from low-carb and low-fat diets to exercising and strength training, all claimed to be “the” approach to successful weight loss. It may thus be that Karen Kingsbury’s The Prism Weight Loss Program is a book that is a part of this trend. We note that The Prism Weight Loss Program is actually an accompanying read to the eponymous program, and as such, may only be educational.
In order to analyze this program, we will need to look at not only the book, but at the program itself. It should be noted that the book touches upon spirituality as well. We will take a closer look at the program and conclude whether its offerings may be more effective and feasible than other weight loss formulas on the market.

 | Concept |
It is said that the PRISM™ Weight Loss Program, founded in 1990, has helped more than 60,000 people transform their eating behaviors with a sensible, lifestyle-change approach. The purpose of this book is to make accessible this program to the paperback masses. The Prism Weight Loss Program is focused on lowering sugar and carbohydrate intake. It hopes to achieve this goal by combining accountability and reasonable strategies with the biblical principles to transform an individual. It claims to use these principles in conjunction with spiritual, emotional and physical support to achieve and maintain weight loss goals.

 | Diet Lifestyle |
Since the “spirituality” concept is used, our readers may infer that atheism or forms of theism outside of Biblical followings may be a bit out of the league, to say the least. As such, readers of the book may be asked to complete “assignments” from the Prism Workbook. These Workbooks center around scripture readings, and are described as devotional workbook lessons. Furthermore, white flour or white sugar may not be allowed. The daily caloric intake may hover around 1200 to 1400.

 | Customer Feedback |
It is said that Karen Kingsbury is an award-winning author of inspirational and true-crime books and a former reporter for the Los Angeles Times and Los Angeles Daily News. She is also said to be a recognized author with the Women of Faith Fiction Club, and has previously published under the pen name, Kelsey Tyler. As such, there may be some who doubt her credibility as a nutrition and diet expert.

 | Conclusion |
Although The Prism Weight Loss Program approach may be an informative read, we believe that weight loss should be approached in a three-pronged way: Diet, Exercise and Supplementation. To its credit, the program emphasizes purging junk foods. However, the book may offer little in the way of tangible diet goals. It may only be a part of the fad diets craze.
In the end, we believe that an effective weight management plan is greatly enhanced by incorporating a weight loss supplement in a capsule form. While exercise and diet are absolutely essential, we fear that the book’s lack of emphasis on supplements is a drawback. There are indeed safe and proven formulas on the market that not only address food cravings by suppressing appetite, but also aid with metabolism. We believe any weight loss program that does not address these two issues may not be hitting the mark.
A completely safe, all-natural capsule that contains a clinically proven appetite suppressant and fat burner is likely an ideal addition to any weight management regimen.
