Product at a Glance
One of the selling features of this machine is that it is portable, meaning that it is easy to carry. From what we have examined, it seems as if the machine allows the user to exercise different muscles, as it possesses a “leg pulley,” designed for the lower body, and a “pull-up bar,” meant for the upper body. While these features sound like they may be convenient and effective, we have some concerns, which we will highlight in the following sections.
|
Customer Feedback
Firstly, we find consumer reactions to this product to be mixed at this time. One person says that it takes a great deal of time to change “the attachments between the exercises.” We find that most people who are looking for a good workout do not wish for complex mechanical exercises (which tend to be workouts in themselves) in between exercises.
We also find that the positive reviews do not mention the machine’s name. Some companies that promote movies and television shows often read negative reviews, take positive adjectives and put them in a context that makes it seem as if they are mentioning something positive about the movie, so that people who read the print advertisements will be swayed.

Customer Service
To us, one of the most important elements of a company is how it serves its customers. If we were to walk in a restaurant, we may love the quality and delectability of the food. However, if the staff were rude and dismissive, we would not return to the restaurant a second time, because we would like to know that they care about our needs first and foremost.
To illustrate our point, we would like to discuss the company’s website. We only find a one-paragraph blurb, which offers a brief description of the Gym. With such a vague illustration of the machine, we find it difficult to trust it, if the company cannot take the time and effort to explain the different features of the product.
On the retailer’s website, we find that it costs about $29.95 extra for a one-year warranty, while it costs around $39.95 extra for two years. Most of the machines we find offer free warranties for these time lengths, and some even offer free lifetime warranties. We believe that if Fitness Quest® were completely confident in their products, they would not feel the need to provide such an offer. Many of the machines we examine came with free trial offers. People may sample them for 30 days, then return them if not satisfied. Exercise practitioners who wish to purchase a product like this may benefit from such an offer.

Conclusion
Fitness Quest® Total Gym 1500 is marketed to be a useful, “compact” machine that enables a person to do various exercises in the privacy and comfort of their home, and may fit into tight spaces. It may be a great machine for those who wish to use it. But, we have a few issues.
The fact that the company does not offer a good description on their website disconcerts us, because we feel that any company that truly has faith in their products will go out of their way to describe them in-depth, so as to sell them on what they have to offer. The fact that the warranty is so pricey is troubling as well. We believe it may indicate their need for replacement parts, due to the possible unreliability of the machine.
Ultimately, while the Fitness Quest® Total Gym 1500 may work well for some people, there are many products that appear to be more reliable in the fight against obesity, as indicated by the abundance of consumer praise, unlimited warranties and offers of free trials.
