Anti-Aging Diet |
 |
Introduction & Overview |
As time goes on weight gain and aging seem to go hand and hand; however the Anti-Aging Diet seeks to allow users to nip both of those issues in the bud, so to speak. Oftentimesthere is an overlap when it comes to dieting. For instance, a diet may be originally created to address weight loss, but then it may turn out to alleviate another issue; and visa versa.
This website says that this diet is “based upon many years of animal experimentation at the U.C.L.A. Medical School and in other laboratories in other major universities in the United States”. However, animal based studies are not always proof that a diet or a supplement may create the same results in humans, because animals and humans have very different metabolisms. Let’s take a look at this plan to see what it may offer.
|
 | Pros |
• Extremely low in calories
|
 | Cons |
• Hunger may be an issue for many
• No customer service available for this diet because it is a book based plan
• Not proven to reduce signs of aging in humans
|
 | Diet Concept |
The Anti-Aging Diet uses a concept that was developed by Roy L. Walford when he was working at UCLA as a biogerontologist. He uses this diet himself, and he firmly believes that individuals should opt for a nutrient rich yet low calorie diet (read as low in actual food) to augment weight loss and decrease signs of aging. However, this diet plan has been shown to “hold back time” where mice are concerned, however, as noted above, humans and mice have very different metabolism rate. What is true for mice may not be true for humans.

 | Diet Design |
The Anti-Aging Diet was designed by Walford himself, with some assistance from his daughter who designed the recipe section of the book. Some diet plans may get away with not having recipes, however, this diet uses such a low calorie and minimalist designed that it is a necessary feature. The website says that this diet will give users “maximum metabolic efficiency, maximum health, and maximum life span”.
This diet is designed to deliver optimal nutrient and minimal amounts of food. This may sit well with some users; however, others may find this to be cruel and unusual punishment. There is no mechanism in place to allow users to manage their hunger, which can be a real dieting pitfall. Some users of this plan may opt to include a supplement that uses a good appetite suppressant; although Walford does not believe hunger will be an issue for long for users of this plan. However, we cannot see how this would be the case.

 | Cost |
At the time we reviewed this product, the book that outlines this plan, titled The Ant-Aging Plan, was available at some discount retailers for $14.95. However, they also sell a Dr. Roy Walford's Interactive Diet Planner on this website, which is a software program that is especially designed to assist dieters in keep track of the calories they are consuming. This program contains a data base that provides users with nutrient information on a 3,000 different foodstuffs.

 | Conclusion |
The Anti-Aging Diet may assist some users in losing weight, and it may allow some to feel younger, but we have little doubt that everyone who uses this plan will be hungrier, because it is an extremely low calorie/low food diet plan. Clearly, it is not for the faint of heart nor may it be a good choice for those who already wrestle with hunger. In fact hunger may be a major diet killer, and there is no mechanism in place in the diet to alleviate this issue. Those who are interest in this plan may wish to investigate some form of holistic supplementation.
Also, the problem many consumers have when using a book based plan is the dearth of customer service. We usually suggest that a consumer choose a plan or a supplement to facilitate weight loss, which includes a good customer care department that is available to address all concerns and questions easily and quickly.
